Hanse Sail 2008 - book day trips

"MINERVA"

The Minerva is with its classical visage one of the biggest sail ships of the
Netherlands, which can still go on sea. 2008 the ship will come to the Hanse
Sail Rostock.

The white shinning 3-mast schooner with the highest comfort is 49 meters long
and was built in Germany, in Hammelwarden, in 1935. The Ship was made out of steel and it was christened from its owner Johann Peter Henning of the name Uwe Ursula.
In the following years there were some other owners. In 1959 a risgistration in
the Lloyd's register as a motorship has been resolved.
In 1987 the schooner was rebuilt into the 3-mast schooner from dutch interests
an it was renamed as "Minerva". Since then the port of registry is Scheveningen in the Netherlands.
At the 18th Hanse Sail Rostock the Minerva will go on sea on Sunday the 10th

"Dar Mlodziezy"

The polish sailing ship Dar Mlodziezy with port of registry in Gdynia will
participate on the 18th Hanse Sail Rostock.
The 108,8 meter full rigged ship with an area of its sail of 3015 m² was built
as one of the first 3-mast trainee ships of a serial at the Gdansker Stocznia
dockyard in 1982. The Druzhba, the Mir, the Khersones, the Nadeshda and the
Pallada followed the Dar Mlodziezy.
The Dar Mlodziezy participates on sailing events and regatta regularly. During
the trips students from Poland and other countries are educated as mates for
civil navigation.

"INGO"

The 3-mast schooner Ingo was build as one of the last sailing ships of wood at
the dockyard Groth in Sjötorp in 1922. Its three masts arise 25,5 meters above
the water surface and don’t wear any square sails.
During the 18th Hanse Sail Rostock the 38 meters long Ingo offers trips to
different times of day.

"KVARTSITA"

Since 2005 the 2-mast schooner Kvartsita shows a swedish flag during the Hanse Sail Rostock.
The beautiful gaff schooner with the sharpely deck is equipped as a trainee ship
for the youth. Disabled youths can also participate on the every day life on
board or when hoisting the sails. Therefore the ship disposes of a lift for
wheelchairs, which goes from the mess room to the upper deck. The ship is
equipped with the modernst nautical units and safety equipments and it has  life saving appliances for about 60 persons in store.

The Kvartsita was built in the Swedish Raa in 1945 and it provided as freighter.
The beneficence Skaftö Kuttern bought this ship in 1986 and rebuilt it in its
originally condition. Visitors have got a nice view all over the sea from the
bright upper deck.
During the Hanse Sail the Kvartsita offers a day trip from 10 am till 5 pm and
an evening trip from 19 till 23 o’clock. Sea air makes you hungry and so you can
have a welcome drink, a hotpot, coffee and cake on board.

"STAD AMSTERDAM"

The Clipper STAD AMSTERDAM,

ego of the armada history ships under the flag of the Netherlands, participates on the 18th Hanse Sail Rostock from 7th to 10th August 2008.

 

Since its implementation during the Sail Amsterdam 2000 it is an absolute attraction for public.

The Clipper is an replication of its traditionell parents in the 19th century appointed with the comfort of the 21st century.

 

The most of the Tallship reminds on long ago seafaring times.

When fast sailers where deployed for the transport of goods from and to North America, Indonesia or Australia since the beginning of the century.

 

Because of the opening of the Suezcanal in 1869 the way for the steam ships to Asia contracted formidable.

 

The fast sailers couldn’t use this canal and loosed its advantage of the lower ride time adverse its steely competitors. This means the end of the merchant shipping in 1940.

By order of the city Amsterdam and the partnership Randstad with the Stad Amsterdam a ship of the type of the fastest sailer of the world was built between 1997 and 2000. With its lank black steel hulk and the white sails the three mast full rigged ship with its 30 man crew invites guests from all over the world to wide voyages an day trips and participates on scorces of regatta races an maritime mass rallies.

 

Also at the Hanse Sail the Stad Amsterdam will be guest for the first time this year.

The guest has the chance for sailing with the Stad Amsterdam.
