Now for the 7th time the Hanseatic Cookclub Wismarbay organized the herring days in Wismar. The herring was already in the 11rst century economical meanful for the hanseatic city. At that time fishermen treked to the swedish south west coast to trap the herring. Well conserved with salt the herring of Wismar was expoted in all areas of Europe as treasured good.

Restaurant proprietor of the hanseatic city of Wismar and around serve their guests specialities around the herring. They built up the herring days, which begins with the "herring tumbrel" - the collection of the herring from the old habour with procession to the market and with a great herring frying. The herring days end with a fish market at the old habour, where the fryied herring also can not miss.
